It’s important for those wanting to know how SEO truly works to have a clear understanding of PageRank.
The infographic below represents PageRank pretty well, but there are some other items we want to make certain you understand first:
- The PageRank of your site has no effect on how your site ranks in Google. It is an inaccurate indicator about the value of links on pages, not an indicator of ranking power. A PR0 site can outrank a PR5 site for certain keywords if the SEO is done properly.
- PageRank is in a constant state of flux. The visible PageRank, known as toolbar PageRank, is updated sporadically at best. It is often done quarterly but can go much longer. Real PageRank is not visible to anyone but the algorithm itself and is always changing based upon indexed links to and from a site.
- PageRank should be used as a loose guide, nothing more.
With that out of the way, here’s the infographic.
